What a fun spin to the famous Sherlock Holmes mysteries! It took a little bit to get into it but once i did i couldn't put it down. The setting is 1915 and Sherlock Holmes is retired from crime solving (or at least he makes you believe) and studying honeybees. He is living in Sussex Downes when he stumbles across Mary Russell. She is 15 and egotistical but very intelligent and matches Holmes wit for wit. This is just #1 in the "Mary Russell series" and i think i read that in #2 they get married..... Weird since although they have A LOT in common there is a 40 year age gap between the two. At first i thought this was for a case they were working on but in 9 they are still married. I'll keep you posted.
