"the last time i saw Paris" by Lynn Sheene

I JUST finished a fabulous book. I am really into Historical fiction and have read a lot about Nazi's and the Holocaust but haven't read any from when the Nazi's occupied France.  This book is about Claire who escaped the life of a poor farmers daughter down South, to a wealthy abusive socialite in NYC during the 1940's. She escaped to Paris to start anew only to find had fallen to the Nazi's.  In exchange for "papers" she agrees to help the French Resistance.  Working out of a flower shop she is able to spy on hotels where Nazi officers are staying when she makes her flower deliveries, then report back what she sees.  I loved the cloak and dagger, secret meetings and of course i couldn't love ANY book without a love interest and hers was Thomas Grey. (AHH! )  Of course they butted heads in the beginning but "love conquer's all." (when they finally communicated to each other!)  It was at times hard to read of her struggles and what she had to endure in order to save herself and the ones she loved but Claire had Moxy and could get what she wanted!  
 I can't wait to give this copy to my sister Liz...they speak french throughout!!
Oh and i learned that the Nazi's hung their flag from the Eiffel Tower!! i haven't been able to get my hands on a picture but it is document that they did (wikipedia.org). The first one blew away a couple of hours after it was put up so they settled for a smaller one.  The elevator lift "mysteriously" was cut so the soldiers had to walk all the way to the top and within hours of the Germans surrendering it was fixed.  At least Hitler didn't make it past ground level.
